Ceramic is a very efficient heat and corrosion resistant material that is used as coating on lots and lots of items today. Ceramic and porcelain gives a shiny appearance to objects and hence has been used on variety of elements like crockery, stove etc. These coatings can get scraped off accidentally as they are thin which hampers its appearance. But these scratches can be taken care of by the ideas that we discuss today in this article.
There are numerous surfaces that are coated with ceramic and hence are vulnerable to the scratches like cars, crockery, vase and many more whose looks matter to us and hence even a small scratch needs to be polished and get rid of.
If you plan to clean the scratches and repair them completely to keep your Ceramic Cookware Healthy, you need to follow the following process.
Kindly take some water and mix liquid soap in it and mix it well. Now apply this mixture near the scratch and rinse it so that all the oily and greasy marks are removed. Once the oily texture is gone, either wipe it with a clean and thick towel to dry it or allow it to dry naturally.
Now get the abrasive paper which is rough in nature and rub it on the scratch so that the smooth surface becomes rough. This rough surface would later allow the porcelain to settle better and uniformly.
Now you can open the porcelain bottle, but before opening it shake it well so that the porcelain mixture mixes well and uniformly. Now you can slowly open the bottle and if any drop is falling out, then wipe it so that it does not get dried up especially on the rim. Once the porcelain dries up, it becomes hard and will not let you close the bottle back.
Now you can dip the brush slightly in the porcelain bottle. Remember to dip it slightly as it is advisable to put multiple thin layers of the porcelain on the scratch instead of one thick layer. Now slightly place a stroke of the brush on the scratch so that the scratch gets covered by one thin line of the coating. Before applying any consecutive coating, this first layer needs to be dried for at least an hour.
Number of layers of coating depends on the depth of the scratch. Light scratch could be cleanly covered by a single layer itself, and deeper ones might take multiple layers of coating.
Few pointers to be considered while following the brave procedure
- While you clean up the plate or coating before repairing it, ensure you wash it thoroughly so that you do not leave any oil droplets on it as that would not allow the coating to spread uniformly and firmly on the scratch.
- Alonso, always shake the porcelain bottle well before you open it for use. Shaking well mixes the content uniformly else you would get only thin liquid at the top which would not be good as the coating.
- While you brush, keep in mind that you should dip the brush very lightly in the porcelain solution as the coating needs to be very thin and plain so that it is not visible like an odd mark which looks worse than the scratch
- Kindly pay attention on the number of layers you are putting. If the scratch is not too deep, then applying multiple layers is not recommended as that would pose it as a bulging out unit spoiling the overall look of the surface.
Slight scratches could be won by coating them porcelain solution manually at home. But for bigger and deep scratches, if you do not have the experience and expertise, then it would be better to take it to an expert and get it done by them. Following the above simple processes, you can maintain the looks and aesthetics of such shiny and bright surfaces especially of your cookware very easily and in no time at all.
The Ceramic Cookware usage is regular and hence is viable to scratches unless you maintain and stack them properly. And after that also, if they get any accidental scratches, then here you are with a simple method of treating it.
